-True Happiness-

Today we read:

“Happy are those who mourn; God will comfort them!”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:4‬ ‭GNT‬‬

The Greek word for mourn is “pentheo”, it means “to bewail” which means: to express great regret, sadness or disappointment about something. It can be a person (someone who made a promise to you and end up not keeping it), place (being in a place you where not supposed to be and suddenly something evil happened), thing (buying something and later discovering it was fake and you can’t return it) or investing in a business deal and you end up losing everything, especially when you have  spend a lot of time on it. It can also be, being imprudent about a decision you were supposed to make. For example, refusing to go to school, then regretting later. Also, letting go of an opportunity that came your way and regretting later.

The above circumstances can bring grief, anger or cause you to lament. That is why the Word of God says:

“Come to me, all who are tired from carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭11:28‬ ‭GW‬‬

Jesus Christ wants to refresh you if only you can hand over the load you are carrying to Him. He said: “ …Come to me and rest (be refreshed)”. Most of the time God will use someone that has been through what you may be going through and was comforted by Him (Jesus Christ) to refresh you.

For example, Paul wrote to Philemon and pleaded with him to receive Onesemus, who stole from church koffers. Whom before was unprofitable, but now is profitable. He pleaded because the devil used what happened between them to birth division, enmity and regret. Paul had so much pain and asked for reconciliation between both parties , so that his heart would be refreshed. Thus, not only was Paul used to minister to both parties, he was also comforted by them reconciling with each other.

“So, because we’re brothers in the Lord, do something for me. Give me some comfort because of Christ.”
‭‭Philemon‬ ‭1:20‬ ‭GW‬‬

Secondly, He may also minister to you directly by His Spirit through the Word of God being preached to you.

“and my teaching and message were not delivered with skillful words of human wisdom, but with convincing proof of the power of God’s Spirit. Your faith, then, does not rest on human wisdom but on God’s power.”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭2:4-5‬ ‭GNT‬‬

This is why Jesus Christ said: “ come to him with your issues and be refreshed”.

If natural refreshments can give you temporary happiness, what about the refreshment that comes from the Lord.

I have good news for you. Instead of focusing on your mishaps, open yourself up to receive comfort from the Lord that will give you true Happiness.

Always know that true Happiness comes from the Lord.
