-Food for thought day 98-

• Leviticus 19:18
• John 13:34-35

Most of the time, we find it difficult loving people who don’t fit in our category. The reason being, we always want people to act and talk like us to be accepted.

As believers in Christ, we are not to love people because they fit in our local group, but we’re to love them as Christ loves us.

The Bible says: “You shall not take revenge or bear any grudge against the sons of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord. [Matt. 5:43-46; Rom. 12:17, 19.]”
‭‭Leviticus‬ ‭19:18‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

In the old testaments, we have to love our neighbors as ourselves as a command; but in the new testaments, we are to love as Christ loves us, not just as a command but out of our free will from the heart and not through eye service.

The question is: “How and when did He demonstrate God’s love to us?”

Answer: “But God shows and clearly proves His [own] love for us by the fact that while we were still sinners, Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One) died for us.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭5:8‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

His love for us led to His death. In other words, if we have to die for the sake of the Gospel for others to receive eternal life, so be it.

So loving our neighbors as ourselves has to do with willing to sacrifice all for Christ’s sake for your neighbors to experience God’s love and also come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Remember love is not self-seeking!!

Many blessings in Jesus’ Name.

Think and Act!!!!
