Today we read:
-Food for thought day 320-
• 1 Corinthians 8:13
• Romans 14:20-21, 23
God’s love will always cause you to stand with the weak without making them feel worthless about themselves, or do things that will work against their conscience.
“Therefore, if [my eating a] food is a cause of my brother’s falling or of hindering [his spiritual advancement], I will not eat [such] flesh forever, lest I cause my brother to be tripped up and fall and to be offended.”
1 Corinthians 8:13 AMPC
Therefore, any action of a stronger brother in the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ which is permissible but will cause a weaker brother to sin against his conscience is wrong, because it hinders the spiritual progress of the brother.
“You must not, for the sake of food, undo and break down and destroy the work of God! Everything is indeed [ceremonially] clean and pure, but it is wrong for anyone to hurt the conscience of others or to make them fall by what he eats. The right thing is to eat no meat or drink no wine [at all], or [do anything else] if it makes your brother stumble or hurts his conscience or offends or weakens him.”
But the man who has doubts (misgivings, an uneasy conscience) about eating, and then eats [perhaps because of you], stands condemned [before God], because he is not true to his convictions and he does not act from faith. For whatever does not originate and proceed from faith is sin [whatever is done without a conviction of its approval by God is sinful].”
Romans 14:20-21, 23 AMPC
Whenever you put your ego before others, it’s selfishness. Love does not cause people to fall, but it takes people from darkness to light.
Remember: Love gives the other the first choice. For Love always lowers its standard to help the weak.
Lower your standards!
Many blessings in Jesus’ Name.
