1 Thessalonians 4-5

-Food for thought day 267-

•‭‭ Luke‬ ‭21:1-4‬ ‭
• John 15:13

Greater love is not the number of things you give out. It’s how much it has cost you in giving out what you gave out.

For example, the Word of God says: “LOOKING UP, [Jesus] saw the rich people putting their gifts into the treasury. And He saw also a poor widow putting in two mites (copper coins). And He said, Truly I say to you, this poor widow has put in more than all of them; For they all gave out of their abundance (their surplus); but she has contributed out of her lack and her want, putting in all that she had on which to live.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭21:1-4‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

The widow’s mite was everything she had and the best offer given. It was like laying down her life for others to live. She demonstrated her love for the Kingdom of God through her giving. This was like seeking the Kingdom of God first and then the rest came.

That is why Jesus said: “No one has greater love [no one has shown stronger affection] than to lay down (give up) his own life for his friends.”
‭‭John‬ ‭15:13‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

If Jesus never laid down His life first, there would be no harvest of souls today. We’re the product of His sacrifice; it cost Him everything, for us to be saved. It took greater love to save us.

For this reason, our love for people should not be anything less than the standard of Christ.

Remember: it takes greater love to bring salvation.

Press into greater love!

Many blessings in Jesus’ Name.
