The reason we love God is that He first loved us; so that we can go on and demonstrate the love we receive from Him to someone else.

“We, though, are going to love—love and be loved. First we were loved, now we love. He loved us first.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭4:19‬ ‭MSG‬‬

That being said, however, we will still find people who still find it difficult to love. The reason is that they have not embraced God’s way of loving people. So they practice love from a carnal point of view. Thus, their love for people is based on people’s love for them. This is carnal love practised by unbelievers.

The standard of God’s Love set for all is: “But God shows and clearly proves His [own] love for us by the fact that while we were still sinners, Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One) died for us.”

Therefore, loving people because they love you, is an error. We can never produce good fruit out of a person without first sowing the seed of the kind of fruit we want to see.

This is the simple reason why love was planted in us first; to produce love in and through us, to be demonstrated to someone in need.

The Word of God says: “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of sympathy (pity and mercy) and the God [Who is the Source] of every comfort (consolation and encouragement), Who comforts (consoles and encourages) us in every trouble (calamity and affliction), so that we may also be able to comfort (console and encourage) those who are in any kind of trouble or distress, with the comfort (consolation and encouragement) with which we ourselves are comforted (consoled and encouraged) by God.”

Paul the apostle could only be sympathetic, comfort and give love to other believers because he also received the seed of love planted in him by Jesus Christ.

Remember: we can’t walk in God’s Love without first embracing God’s way of loving people.

Be an expression of God’s way of loving people.
