And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.” Matthew 14:28-30 KJV
Peter began to sink as soon as he took his eyes off the Master and was focused on the things that came contrary to the word of the Master. Jesus Christ asked Peter to come. Peter started walking on the word of the Master and was making some progress. But the moment he took his eyes off the Word and was focusing on the circumstances around the word he begin to sink. The Bible says he doubt the word because of what his physical eyes saw contrary to the masters instructions to him.
Now we have to understand that the Word of God has the power and ability to produce results by itself. Maybe you are going through some trying moments. It’s what God Almighty is spoken to you that will bring a change. Things will not change because you’re trying to work something out with your own ability. God wants you to fasten your eyes on His spoken word to you. For in that spoken word from the Lord to you, lies the power and ability to give you a turnaround experience in Jesus Christ mighty name.
So shall My word be that goes forth out of My mouth: it shall not return to Me void [without producing any effect, useless], but it shall accomplish that which I please and purpose, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” Isaiah 55:11 AMP
That Word is Jesus Christ Himself. That’s why we are commanded to look unto Jesus Christ and not unto our circumstances. For He is the one that makes sure we have turn around experience for good in His name.
Looking away [from all that will distract] to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith [giving the first incentive for our belief] and is also its Finisher [bringing it to maturity and perfection]. He, for the joy [of obtaining the prize] that was set before Him, endured the cross, despising and ignoring the shame, and is now seated at the right hand of the throne of God. [Ps. 110:1.]” Hebrew 12:2 AMP
Let’s pray together:
Heavenly Father I thank You for Your word. Help me by Your Spirit to fix my eyes on Jesus Christ instead of my circumstances. In Jesus Christ mighty name. Amen.
