One of the reason why many don’t pray is due to lack of knowledge in God’s word. Without God’s Word you can’t pray effectively. As a matter of fact, it is through the Word of God Almighty that you will ever learn to know how to pray.
Also we have a group of people that claim they study the Word of God, but never pray. That’s also wrong. God’s Word must bring us back to the place of prayer, if truly we have been studying it.
That’s why our main text says: ”If you abide in me.” So the first step into learning to pray is to get saved. And the second step is to study the Word of God and allow it to have its place in your heart. Thirdly, you can then ask from God Almighty. The asking part is prayer. Then He will grant you your request.
But we will continue to devote ourselves steadfastly to prayer and the ministry of the Word.” Acts 6:4 AMP
The apostle knew this great secret. So make equal time in prayer and studying of God’s Word daily.

Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your Word. Teach me how to pray as I study Your Word. Help me to spend equal time on prayer and Your Word in Jesus Christ mighty name. Amen.
