Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God.” 2 Corinthians 3:5 KJV

The grace of God works best when we are selfless. When you’re selfless, that is to say not conscious of what you’re capable of, but of what God Almighty is capable of doing with you and in your life, it becomes easy to function in God’s grace (read 2 Samuel 16:5-13).

This is the story of King David when he was going through trying times. He became so selfless in such way that it was amazing. Instead exercising his authority as a king, he humbled himself and allowed God’s grace to move.

And David said to Abishai, and to all his servants, Behold, my son, which came forth of my bowels, seeketh my life: how much more now may this Benjamite do it? let him alone, and let him curse; for the Lord hath bidden him. It may be that the Lord will look on mine affliction, and that the Lord will requite me good for his cursing this day.” 2 Samuel 16:11-12 KJV

Selflessness always attracts God’s power (grace) to work on your behalf.

… for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.” 1 Peter 5:5 KJV

Pride is selfishness or self-ego and humility is selflessness. Now grace is drawn to selflessness.

At the end, God Almighty turned the captivity of king David around and Shimei asked for forgiveness (read 2 Samuel 19:18-23).

Let’s pray together;

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for Your Word. Thank You for showing me the root of operating in Your grace in Jesus Name. Amen.
