This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.” 2 Timothy 3:1-5 KJV

The text started by saying lovers of themselves. Selfishness can cause the love of many to grow cold. Our zeal for the house of God no longer the same. When many just came to the Lord, they loved Him so much in such a way that they could give all for him. Due to temptation and trials in this world and in church, they have allowed the enemy to hinder them and their passion for Jesus is no more.

Paul was not writing this letter to unbelievers, but to us. So that we should be watchful not to be victimized by satan’s schemes.

My question is: What is that thing that is worth replacing the love of God with? Please read Revelation 2:2-5.

Nevertheless, I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.” Revelation 2:4-5 KJV

You have to come too far to compromise.

Let’s pray together:

Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your Word. I repent for letting my love for You grow cold. Aflame me Lord by your Spirit in the mighty name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
