“And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.”
‭‭1 Chronicles‬ ‭4:10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Jabez asked God to enlarge his coast. The Word coast is a Hebrew Word for limitations. Jabez was asking God to take the limits of him.

God was not responsible for Jabez limitations. Jabez himself was responsible. Sometimes we see believers pray like this; Father take the limit off me. The truth is we are the once that limits God work in our lives because we don’t see God the way He is. How far we go with God is base on how we see God.

The limits we place on Him is due to our in ability to know or see who God is in the Spirit. A great example :

“Then the king of Syria warred against Israel, and took counsel with his servants, saying, In such and such a place shall be my camp. And the man of God sent unto the king of Israel, saying, Beware that thou pass not such a place; for thither the Syrians are come down. And the king of Israel sent to the place which the man of God told him and warned him of, and saved himself there, not once nor twice. Therefore the heart of the king of Syria was sore troubled for this thing; and he called his servants, and said unto them, Will ye not shew me which of us is for the king of Israel? And one of his servants said, None, my lord, O king: but Elisha, the prophet that is in Israel, telleth the king of Israel the words that thou speakest in thy bedchamber. And he said, Go and spy where he is, that I may send and fetch him. And it was told him, saying, Behold, he is in Dothan. Therefore sent he thither horses, and chariots, and a great host: and they came by night, and compassed the city about. And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do? And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them. And Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.”
‭‭2 Kings‬ ‭6:8-17 KJV

The only reason why the servant of the Elisha panic is because he had no clue he was protected by God’s army. In other words He could behold God’s protecting power. Thus, he limited the work of God in his life by being afraid. God only respond to faith in Him not fear.

Elisha was not afraid but his servant was. He was not afraid because He knew something the servant did not know about God or their situation. For this reason, he prayed for the servant spiritual eyes to be open.

The limits that we have placed on God is because we don’t see God for who He is . So our conclusion of him is base on what our natural eyes see or what someone told us.

Today, I pray for you that your spiritual eyes will be open to see God for who He is and not the way you think He is.

Let’s pray together; Heavenly Father, my Great I Am. Open my eyes to see You just the way You are in every circumstances that I find myself in in Jesus name. Amen.
