Jabez was honorable above his brothers; but his mother named him Jabez [sorrow maker], saying, Because I bore him in pain. Jabez cried to the God of Israel, saying, Oh, that You would bless me and enlarge my border, and that Your hand might be with me, and You would keep me from evil so it might not hurt me! And God granted his request.”

The hand of God with Jabez also means development. Jabez was asking God to help him develop so that he will fulfill God’s plans and purpose for his life.

It’s one thing to be blessed but is another to grow in it so that we secure what God is given to us.

That’s why we need tutoring in the things of God and also discipline through the Shepherd given to us to help us procure God’s blessings for our lives.

NOW WHAT I mean is that as long as the inheritor (heir) is a child and under age, he does not differ from a slave, although he is the master of all the estate; But he is under guardians and administrators or trustees until the date fixed by his father.”

God also said He will give us shepherd after His own heart to feed his people.

And I will set up shepherds over them who will feed them. And they will fear no more nor be dismayed, neither will any be missing or lost, says the Lord.”
‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭23:4‬ ‭AMPC‬‬
