Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, pretenders (hypocrites)! For you give a tenth of your mint and dill and cummin, and have neglected and omitted the weightier (more important) matters of the Law–right and justice and mercy and fidelity. These you ought [particularly] to have done, without neglecting the others.” Matthew 23:23 AMP

The scribes and the pharasis profess outwardly to be spiritual but their words did not match up with what comes out of their mouth. They kept the rules and regulations outwardly but inwardly in their hearts was filled with evil. And what you have in your heart is what comes out of you.

If anyone thinks himself to be religious (piously observant of the external duties of his faith) and does not bridle his tongue but deludes his own heart, this person’s religious service is worthless (futile, barren).” James 1:26 AMP

It’s time for us to start being accountable for our words. For what comes out of our mouth makes us who we are. Also no word is void in itself. It either brings blessings or curses, life or death, defeat or victory, good or evil.

For us to prevail this year over the wiles of satan we must ask God to cleans our mouth and also learn to yield our tongue to the Holy Spirit to help us in our speaking.

The devil doesn’t mind us playing religion as long as he can still trap us with our words. Our words either make, break, build us or others.

Let’s pray together:

Heavenly Father I thank You for Your word. I repent for my evil speaking against myself and others.Help me by Your Spirit take heed and guard my ways, that I may sin not with my tongue while the wicked are before me against you in Jesus Christ mighty name. Amen.
