Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,” 1 Corinthians 13:4 KJV

 Our text says charity suffereth long. It means true love forbears one another faults.

Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.” Colossians 3:13 KJV

Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.” Colossians 3:13 NLT

That word forbear means: the quality of someone who is patient and is able to deal with a difficult person without getting angry. That’s what the Bible call long suffering. To be lenient to people by tolerating their faults.

The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9 KJV

No one can tolerate one another faults without looking at Jesus Christ our Lord. The way he deals with us on a daily base when we act difficult or make mistakes.

God Almighty wants us to forbear with one another, just as God for Jesus Christ sake is longsuffering with us.

Let’s pray together;

Heavenly Father,
I thank You for Your word. Help me through your Spirit to be longsuffering in dealing with people, just as You (God) are longsuffering in dealing with me in Jesus Christ mighty name. Amen.
