NOW [in Haran] the Lord said to Abram, Go for yourself [for your own advantage] away from your country, from your relatives and your father’s house, to the land that I will show you. [Heb. 11:8-10.] And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you [with abundant increase of favors] and make your name famous and distinguished, and you will be a blessing [dispensing good to others]. And I will bless those who bless you [who confer prosperity or happiness upon you] and curse him who curses or uses insolent language toward you; in you will all the families and kindred of the earth be blessed [and by you they will bless themselves]. [Gal. 3:8.] So Abram departed, as the Lord had directed him; and Lot [his nephew] went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he left Haran.” Genesis‬ ‭12:1-4‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

The Bible says ” Abram departed and Lot his nephew went with him…”

The name Lot means by chance in KJV dictionary or division of a property by lot.  Lot was Abraham plan. God did not asked Abraham to take Lot with him. Abraham took Lot thinking at the back of his mind that he will be his next of king or his heir since he had no child. Lot was a distraction to that which God has preordained, predefined and predestined for Abraham.

Most believers don’t really walk in the blessing that God has for them or is given to them because of their own personal agenda. We can’t come to God with our own plan and expect God to accomplish his purpose in our life. The Bible calls out plan” the sin that easily besets us”

THEREFORE THEN, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses [who have borne testimony to the Truth], let us strip off and throw aside every encumbrance (unnecessary weight) and that sin which so readily (deftly and cleverly) clings to and entangles us, and let us run with patient endurance and steady and active persistence the appointed course of the race that is set before us,” Hebrews‬ ‭12:1‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

Until we stop relying on our own efforts, we would never experience the manifestation of the blessing of God at work in our lives. God did not save us for us to figure things out by ourselves. He save us to depend on Him for the manifestation of that which He has promised us in His word.

However, as the name of Lot implies, it manifested in Abraham walk with with him and Abraham could only fully see or embrace the blessings of God for his life when he let go of his own plan called Lot. Please read Genesis 13:5-15.

That’s why we must learn to trust in the Lord with all our heart and choose not to lean on our own understanding. This will enhance the manifestation of God’s blessings in us and will enable us to be a blessing in this world.

Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your word. Help me by Your Spirit to let go of my plans so that Your blessings for me will take absolute preeminence and dominance of me and will also cause me to be a blessing in Jesus Christ mighty name. Amen
