Today we read:
Numbers 30-31
Luke 10
Psalms 41

-Food for thought day 90-

• Luke 6:41-42
• Songs 2:15

Most often we find ourselves criticizing someone because we view ourselves better than the other person.

The Bible says: “we should not esteem ourselves highly than others”.

The reason being: the spirit of pride. God hates pride; He resist the proud and exalts the humble.

Also, we talk about their mistakes because they were revealed or exposed. As a matter of fact, the worst kind of sins are secret sins. The fact that your hidden faults are not exposed does not make you better than another. The truth is, secret sin that is not exposed is always worse than what is exposed.

That is why Jesus said: “Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye but do not notice or consider the beam [of timber] that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, Brother, allow me to take out the speck that is in your eye, when you yourself do not see the beam that is in your own eye? You actor (pretender, hypocrite)! First take the beam out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother’s eye.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭6:41-42‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

Our mistakes are often worse than that of the person we’re criticizing.

What is exposed leads to repentance, but what is not exposed can easily destroy our lives because it’s often tolerated and undermined by us and treated as if we can cope with it. However we all should know it’s the little foxes that ruin our vineyards.

“[My heart was touched and I fervently sang to him my desire] Take for us the foxes, the little foxes that spoil the vineyards [of our love], for our vineyards are in blossom.”
‭‭Song of Solomon‬ ‭2:15‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

This does not mean we should not correct one another or admit our mistakes and apologize for it.

Jesus was saying that before criticizing and sentencing someone to death, we should look at our own personal errors and learn to judge righteously in line with God’s Word. Knowing the measure in which we judge others we also will be judge.

Next time before criticizing people, we should look at ourselves first.

Many blessings in Jesus’ Name!
