Haggai 1-2

-Food for thought day 313-

• Romans 14:20-23

Love does not cause your brother to stumble.

The Word of God says:
“You must not, for the sake of food, undo and break down and destroy the work of God! Everything is indeed [ceremonially] clean and pure, but it is wrong for anyone to hurt the conscience of others or to make them fall by what he eats. The right thing is to eat no meat or drink no wine [at all], or [do anything else] if it makes your brother stumble or hurts his conscience or offends or weakens him. Your personal convictions [on such matters]–exercise [them] as in God’s presence, keeping them to yourself [striving only to know the truth and obey His will]. Blessed (happy, to be envied) is he who has no reason to judge himself for what he approves [who does not convict himself by what he chooses to do]. But the man who has doubts (misgivings, an uneasy conscience) about eating, and then eats [perhaps because of you], stands condemned [before God] because he is not true to his convictions and he does not act from faith. For whatever does not originate and proceed from faith is sin [whatever is done without a conviction of its approval by God is sinful].”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭14:20-23‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

We want people to act like us, failing to understand that our walk with God is a process. That means, our faith in God is based on the relationship we have built with Him. This is the reason why we should not expect someone who is just born again to see things in light of the Word of God as we do.

Even though we know that our attitude towards certain things is right according to scriptures, but for the sake of the weaker brethren whose faith is not as strong as ours, we must learn to consider their feelings towards our actions so that they don’t stumble or sin. Our faith in God should not cause the other to fall. That’s is why walking in love is important; it prevents us from being selfish.

A great example is food; some people don’t eat all kinds of food based on their own reasons. Though the Bible says that every food is sanctified by the Word and prayer. But for the sake of the conscience of the weaker believer in Christ, you should choose to eat what they prefer, to prevent them from falling. This is where God’s love overrides hope and faith.

Remember: Love considers the other first for faith is working through love.

Make sure love dominates you in dealing with both the believer in Christ and unbeliever.

Many blessings in Jesus’ Name.

Think and act!!!!!
