But if I do what I don’t want to do, I am not really the one doing wrong; it is sin living in me that does it. I have discovered this principle of life—that when I want to do what is right, I inevitably do what is wrong. But there is another power within me that is at war with my mind. This power makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me.” Romans‬ ‭7:20-21, 23‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Apostle Paul was sharing his experience when he was not yet saved. How his entire being was controlled by his sinful nature and this sinful nature caused him to always satisfy the carnal appetite of his mind and he finds himself doing what he did not want to do.

The only solution for the carnal mind is surrender. It must be surrendered to Christ in order for us to walk in victory over the wiles of Satan. We can’t stop thoughts from coming, but any thought not put into action dies unborn, as long as we surrender our mind to Christ.

Apostle Paul felt miserable until he found out the solution is Christ.

Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death? Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord. So you see how it is: In my mind I really want to obey God’s law, but because of my sinful nature I am a slave to sin.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭7:24-25‬ ‭NLT‬‬

So we can see from our text that the solution to all the misery of the mind is Christ.

Today surrender your mind to the council of God as an act of your will, knowing you are no more under the dominion of Satan or power of sin for you have been delivered.

Giving thanks to the Father, Who has qualified and made us fit to share the portion which is the inheritance of the saints (God’s holy people) in the Light. [The Father] has delivered and drawn us to Himself out of the control and the dominion of darkness and has transferred us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, In Whom we have our redemption through His blood, [which means] the forgiveness of our sins.” Colossians‬ ‭1:12-14‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

We are delivered from Satan’s control over our mind. We must learn to surrender it to God’s word as an act of our will. And we will realize the external influence of satanic suggestion against our mind will be broken.

This is how we practice living a victorious life over the wiles of Satan and this is also how we take thoughts captive through the power of The Holy Spirit in obedience to the voice of Christ.

Let’s pray together:

Heavenly Father thank You for Your word. Help me by Your Spirit to surrender my mind to Your word as an act of my will in Jesus name. Amen
