Do not forget or neglect or refuse to extend hospitality to strangers [in the brotherhood–being friendly, cordial, and gracious, sharing the comforts of your home and doing your part generously], for through it some have entertained angels without knowing it. [Gen. 18:1-8; 19:1-3.]” ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭13:2‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

What we do for angels is to entertain them. Now the angels that comes to us must look so poor for us to welcome them as if they needed our help. Many has twisted this text by saying some poor people we see are angels. That’s not what this text is saying. The Bible tells us to feed the hungry and give to the poor. So it’s our duty to do that. But to angels it says entertain them.

Abraham our father of faith entertain angels. First of all he was ready for them and he also discern they were visitors. It’s God’s duty to help us discern them by His Spirit through word of knowledge or inward witness. We should not force ourselves to discern them. The Holy Spirit will cause us to know in His own way and will give us the urge to entertain them. Moreover the three men where not dressed in rags for Abraham to welcome them in . They were properly dressed. When he saw them he was move by the Spirit and persuaded them to eat and drink something. This visit resulted to Abraham himself being blessed.

NOW THE Lord appeared to Abraham by the oaks or terebinths of Mamre; as he sat at the door of his tent in the heat of the day, He lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, three men stood at a little distance from him. He ran from the tent door to meet them and bowed himself to the ground And said, My lord, if now I have found favor in your sight, do not pass by your servant, I beg of you. Let a little water be brought, and you may wash your feet and recline and rest yourselves under the tree. And I will bring a morsel (mouthful) of bread to refresh and sustain your hearts before you go on further–for that is why you have come to your servant. And they replied, Do as you have said. So Abraham hastened into the tent to Sarah and said, Quickly get ready three measures of fine meal, knead it, and bake cakes. And Abraham ran to the herd and brought a calf tender and good and gave it to the young man [to butcher]; then he [Abraham] hastened to prepare it. And he took curds and milk and the calf which he had made ready, and set it before [the men]; and he stood by them under the tree while they ate. And they said to him, Where is Sarah your wife? And he said, [She is here] in the tent. [The Lord] said, I will surely return to you when the season comes round, and behold, Sarah your wife will have a son. And Sarah was listening and heard it at the tent door which was behind Him. [Rom. 9:9-12.]”‭‭Genesis‬ ‭18:1-10‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

That’s why we must learn to entertain them as the Holy Spirit helps us to discern them in physical human form in our midst or around us.

Let’s pray together:

Heavenly Father help me by Your Spirit as you will to discern the presence of angels assign to help me and also to entertain them in Jesus name. Amen
