AND THERE was a famine in the land, other than the former famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went to Gerar, to Abimelech king of the Philistines. And the Lord appeared to him and said, Do not go down to Egypt; live in the land of which I will tell you. Dwell temporarily in this land, and I will be with you and will favor you with blessings; for to you and to your descendants I will give all these lands, and I will perform the oath which I swore to Abraham your father. And I will make your descendants to multiply as the stars of the heavens, and will give to your posterity all these lands (kingdoms); and by your Offspring shall all the nations of the earth be blessed, or by Him bless themselves, [Gen. 22:18; Acts 3:25, 26; Gal. 3:16.] For Abraham listened to and obeyed My voice and kept My charge, My commands, My statutes, and My laws. So Isaac stayed in Gerar.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭26:1-6‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

God takes delight to reveal His covenant to those who seeks after Him. It was God who came to Isaac because of His covenant relationship with Abraham.

The Word of God says there was famine in that land but at the command of God’s Word asking Isaac to stay in that land not to be moved by the present predicament but to obey God’s Word. His circumstances were turned around. The Word of God is the only thing that never fails that is why we must learn to stake our lives and faith on it

Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭24:35‬ ‭NIV‬‬

It is very easy to obey God when you are intimate with Him. In intimacy He reveals who He is to you and it makes it easy for you to trust Him. But it is very difficult to obey God when you are still dealing with Him from the outer court. That is to say: your relationship with Him is based on what He does to you and not based on who is.

When the Bible says Isaac obeyed God in famine and choose to sow in famine (crisis, debt, lack, poverty).  That means Isaac knew the person of God through the relationship his father Abraham had with God and his own personal encounter with God.

That is why we must earnestly pursue after God in relationship and not things!!!!.

As a result of Isaac obedience, he prospered in famine.

Isaac planted crops in that land and the same year reaped a hundredfold, because the Lord blessed him. The man became rich, and his wealth continued to grow until he became very wealthy. He had so many flocks and herds and servants that the Philistines envied him.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭26:12-14‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Always remember that God’s Word is the only instrument that has the power and ability to change our circumstances.

Stake your life and faith on God’s Word and you will never be disappointed!!!!!

Let’s pray together: Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your Word. Help me to go after relationship and live a life of absolute surrender to Your will for my life in Jesus name. Amen
