And have you [completely] forgotten the divine word of appeal and encouragement in which you are reasoned with and addressed as sons? My son, do not think lightly or scorn to submit to the correction and discipline of the Lord, nor lose courage and give up and faint when you are reproved or corrected by Him; For the Lord corrects and disciplines everyone whom He loves, and He punishes, even scourges, every son whom He accepts and welcomes to His heart and cherishes.” Hebrews 12:5-6 AMP

The love of God corrects or disciplines people when they go astray. That’s why the Bible says:

It does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail.” 1 Corinthians 13:6 AMP

Every Father that truly loves his children disciplines them, so that they become better people in the future. If we draw back from God’s discipline, then we are not willing to grow.

Sometimes when people are corrected by their brother or sister in the faith, they get angry and say: how dare you judge as if you don’t make mistakes. If we allow the Love seed of God in us to dominate us, we will with humility accept correction without trying to justify our course or get angry. After all when you are corrected, rebuked or criticized because of what you did wrong, it will only help you to be more fruitful in your life in the Name of Jesus Christ.

Any branch in Me that does not bear fruit [that stops bearing] He cuts away (trims off, takes away); and He cleanses and repeatedly prunes every branch that continues to bear fruit, to make it bear more and richer and more excellent fruit.” John 15:2 AMP

God Almighty must not come from heaven to discipline us. He works through people and also uses circumstances that we brought ourselves to discipline us.

So let us open ourselves to God’s love through correction and rebuke. For this is one of the ways in which we grow to be mature people in Christ Jesus.

Let’s pray together:

Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your Word. Thank You for Your correction and rebuke in my life. Thanks for expressing Your love to me by correcting me in Jesus Christ mighty Name. Amen.
