True Happiness

Today we read:

Happy are those who know they are spiritually poor; the Kingdom of heaven belongs to them!”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:3‬ ‭GNT‬‬

“You’re blessed when you’re at the end of your rope. With less of you there is more of God and his rule.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:3‬ ‭MSG‬‬

“Blessed are the poor in spirit: for their’s is the kingdom of heaven.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

In the KJV version the words “poor in the spirit” signifies in Greek “ptochos” which means a beggar. A beggar is someone with no other option, but is dependent and content with what is being offered to him; in other words they are desperately in need for daily survival. They will keep begging until they receive their need.

There is something about the beggar you must draw to understand “the poor in the spirit“.

A true beggar always takes the position of humility. Humility attracts heavenly things and pride stops the flow of it.

That is why the Bible talks of “the poor in the spirit” and not of the poor in the flesh (carnal things).

God wants His children to come to the end of themselves, so that they will take full hold of Him. It is difficult to walk with God until you’ve come to the end of the rope of your own self. That means your image doesn’t count anymore and your desire is to be conformed to the image of Jesus Christ (Romans 8:29).

God always uses a natural phenomenon to communicate a spiritual truth.

Do you want to be happy?
Be the poor in the spirit or be spiritually naked so that you will be covered by the Glory of God.

A person destitute of God gives up his advantage for the benefit of others. His aim is reaching and living to please God and not himself.

“Do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. Have this same attitude in yourselves which was in Christ Jesus [look to Him as your example in selfless humility],”
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2:4-5‬ ‭AMP‬‬

This can only happen as you come to a place of humility. One of the reasons why people are unhappy is because they are self sufficient and have not come to the end of themselves yet.

Remember the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to the poor in the spirit and not the poor in the flesh.

Be heaven conscious and not earthly bound!

Let’s pray together:
Heavenly Father, help me by Your Spirit to continually function in the spirit of humility in Jesus Name, Amen.
