Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;” Romans 12:11 KJV

We live in time, but God Almighty does not live in time. Time is all we have. And how we use our time in the service of God is very important. God does not want us to be busy body with our time. As someone on mission field you must learn to make every minute of your time count.

Jesus Christ our Lord while on earth was so conscious of his service unto the Lord. And on one occasion He said: “I must be after my Father’s business “

And when they [Joseph and Mary] saw Him, they were amazed; and His mother said to Him, Child, why have You treated us like this? Here Your father and I have been anxiously looking for You [distressed and tormented]. And He said to them, How is it that you had to look for Me? Did you not see and know that it is necessary [as a duty] for Me to be in My Father’s house and [occupied] about My Father’s business?” Luke 2:48-49 AMP

Jesus magnifies His office and refuses to associate with anything or anybody that will distract Him or make Him lazy to magnify His office. The apostles also did the same thing as Jesus.

Now about this time, when the number of the disciples was greatly increasing, complaint was made by the Hellenists (the Greek-speaking Jews) against the [native] Hebrews because their widows were being overlooked and neglected in the daily ministration (distribution of relief). So the Twelve [apostles] convened the multitude of the disciples and said, It is not seemly or desirable or right that we should have to give up or neglect [preaching] the Word of God in order to attend to serving at tables and superintending the distribution of food. Therefore select out from among yourselves, brethren, seven men of good and attested character and repute, full of the [Holy] Spirit and wisdom, whom we may assign to look after this business and duty. But we will continue to devote ourselves steadfastly to prayer and the ministry of the Word.” Acts 6:1-4 AMP

It’s time for us to put out from our lives every unnecessary thing, person or engagement that causes us to be lazy or hinder us not to be fervent in spirit and also causes us to lack zeal in magnifying our office or be after our Father’s business in Christ Jesus.

Let’s pray together:

Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your word. Help me to remove from my path anything that distract me from magnifying my office in Christ Jesus. I refuse to be slothful today and I am fervent in spirit in Jesus Christ mighty name. Amen.
