-Food for thought day 70-

• Matthew 6:16
• Isaiah 58:5

Fasting is supposed to be a lifestyle for every true disciple of Jesus. God expects us to fast, not in crisis but make it a part of our lives.

“And whenever you are fasting, do not look gloomy and sour and dreary like the hypocrites, for they put on a dismal countenance, that their fasting may be apparent to and seen by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full already.
‭‭
The reason for this scripture is because God expects us as followers of Christ, to practice separating ourselves for prayer and fasting; so that we will be spiritually alert and ahead of many things.

That’s why the Word of God says: “But He replied, It has been written, Man shall not live and be upheld and sustained by bread alone, but by every word that comes forth from the mouth of God. [Deut. 8:3.]”
‭‭
We should learn to practice this because we are actually spirit beings, having a soul and living in a body. We should train our spirit to rule over the entire makeup of man. Prayer and fasting makes us sensitive to spiritual things and responds faster to it more than carnal things. Every child of God most develop a lifestyle of fasting, at least once or twice a week. This will also help activate God’s call over our lives and the gifts God has placed in our lives.

We are called to rule inside out not outside in. Isaiah 58 tells us how to fast and the benefits of it.

Remember to always make time for fasting once or twice every week and allow the glory of God to fill your life.

Don’t wait for challenges to come before you fast. Fast before it comes, because it will prepare you to face the challenges.

Many blessings in Jesus’ Name.
