-Food for thought 2020 day 85-

Scripture of meditation:
1 Corinthians 6:13

As you practice bringing your body under discipline knowing your body is not just for food and sex but it’s God’s property; it will be easy to be led by the Spirit.

The Word of God says:

“Food [is intended] for the stomach and the stomach for food, but God will finally end [the functions of] both and bring them to nothing. The body is not intended for sexual immorality, but [is intended] for the Lord, and the Lord [is intended] for the body [to save, sanctify, and raise it again].”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭6:13‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

“You were bought with a price [purchased with a preciousness and paid for, made His own]. So then, honor God and bring glory to Him in your body.”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭6:20‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

Knowing this truth deep in your spirit, you will know how to handle your body with care and respect. That does not mean you should not eat or have sex in marriage as we all know having sex outside marriage is a sin. But it means overindulgence in it and refusing to offer your body for God’s service is wrong, due to the fact that your body is God’s not yours. He uses your body not just your spirit to accomplish His mandate on earth.

A great example is in the book of Acts 10:9-20 (please read).

“The next day as they were still on their way and were approaching the town, Peter went up to the roof of the house to pray, about the sixth hour (noon). But he became very hungry, and wanted something to eat; and while the meal was being prepared a trance came over him, And he saw the sky opened and something like a great sheet lowered by the four corners, descending to the earth.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭10:9-11‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

Peter sacrificed his food which is for the belly and offered his body for prayer, though he was hungry, had a vision and heard God’s voice. This is what he meant by glorifying God with his body which is God’s.

The time has come for you to practice glorifying God with your body knowing it is His property.

Remember: to hear from God you must practice disciplining your own body.

Bring your body under discipline!

Many blessings in Jesus’ Name.
