Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.” Psalms 43:5 KJV

The greatest weapon against depression is praise and worship. The devil seeks for our attention and wants us to worship him when we allow our hurt in us to rule over us. As a matter of fact we are spiritually immobilized when we are hurting. Hurt, if not recognised and dealt with from the initial stage, comes with a spirit called heaviness. The duty of this spirit is to put us in a spiritually weakened position and cause us to become weary and faint in our commitment to the things of God. That’s why we must very alert to practice what God says in His word so that we won’t be a victim or a prey to satan.

That’s why the psalmist said ” ………I shall yet praise Him….”

To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord , that he might be glorified.” Isaiah 61:3 KJV

We don’t praise God because we feel good. We praise God for who He is and also our praise to God Almighty is  a spiritual sacrifice unto God. Our praise to God is our weapon against the spirit of depression or heaviness.

Let’s pray together:

Heavenly Father I thank You for Your word. I shall yet praise You for are the health of my countenance and You are my God in Jesus Christ mighty name. Amen
