Today we read:
“Blessed and enviably happy [with a happiness produced by the experience of God’s favor and especially conditioned by the revelation of His matchless grace] are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted! [Isa. 61:2.]”
Matthew 5:4 AMPC
“You’re blessed when you feel you’ve lost what is most dear to you. Only then can you be embraced by the One most dear to you.”
Matthew 5:4 MSG
Anytime you lose someone dear, the Lord Himself is willing to embrace you because you’re dear to Him. There are certain circumstances that have come on the path of people where they didn’t have control over. Some of these circumstances have left them broken, bruised or grief-stricken. For example the loss of a loved one, job, broken marriage, people that have taken advantage of their vulnerability and abused them. When you encounter such events it is painful, but you must remember that this is one of the reasons Jesus Christ was anointed.
The Word of the says:
“The Spirit of the Lord [is] upon Me, because He has anointed Me [the Anointed One, the Messiah] to preach the good news (the Gospel) to the poor; He has sent Me to announce release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to send forth as delivered those who are oppressed [who are downtrodden, bruised, crushed, and broken down by calamity],”
Luke 4:18 AMPC
God always wants to comfort you, so that He can use you to comfort others. So, instead of dwelling in your grief or pain, draw closer and allow Him to comfort you through His Word.
That is why the Word of God says:
“All praise to the God and Father of our Master, Jesus the Messiah! Father of all mercy! God of all healing counsel! He comes alongside us when we go through hard times, and before you know it, He brings us alongside someone else who is going through hard times so that we can be there for that person just as God was there for us. We have plenty of hard times that come from following the Messiah, but no more so than the good times of His healing comfort—we get a full measure of that, too.”
2 Corinthians 1:3-5 MSG
Remember, whatever circumstances you may find yourself in, God is our present help in trouble and is always willing to comfort us when we are in grief. You may not even feel that He is there, but don’t go by your feelings, lean on His Word that says:
“If your heart is broken, you’ll find God right there; if you’re kicked in the gut, he’ll help you catch your breath.”
Psalm 34:18 MSG
He wants us to lean on Him in grief so that He may give us the best of comfort we can have. In return, He may use someone who has experienced what we are going through to comfort us because the person was comforted by God in the circumstances.
The reason why you’re blessed when you mourn is because the God of comfort will comfort you and anoint you with a special grace to comfort others.
Remember, you can never make anyone happy when you yourself are unhappy!
There is true Happiness to those who mourn, because God embraces and comforts them.
Heavenly Father, heal every hurt and grief I ever experienced and give me beauty for ashes in Jesus Name, Amen.
