I wrote to the church about this, but Diotrephes, who loves to be the leader, refuses to have anything to do with us. When I come, I will report some of the things he is doing and the evil accusations he is making against us. Not only does he refuse to welcome the traveling teachers, he also tells others not to help them. And when they do help, he puts them out of the church. Dear friend, don’t let this bad example influence you. Follow only what is good. Remember that those who do good prove that they are God’s children, and those who do evil prove that they do not know God. Everyone speaks highly of Demetrius, as does the truth itself. We ourselves can say the same for him, and you know we speak the truth.” 3 John 1:9-12 NLT

We sometimes have people in denominations who does not want to submit to the authority placed over them, but they love others to submit to them. This are the people who go about sabotaging God’s authority in His Church and go about making their own followers in denominations in Christ.

John the apostle have this same experience in His time and admonish the church of God in Christ not to imitate evil. For rebellious spirit only give birth to rebellious people. As children of the most High God we should be careful to the kind of authority we submit to. If your leader is rebellious and does not submit to authority above him. That same seed can be transferred to the church thus bringing destruction to the flocks in church. We should be careful not to listen to people who talk carelessly about church authority in Christ Jesus and also refuse to submit to authority.

God is especially incensed against these “teachers” who live by lust, addicted to a filthy existence. They despise interference from true authority, preferring to indulge in self-rule. Insolent egotists, they don’t hesitate to speak evil against the most splendid of creatures. Even angels, their superiors in every way, wouldn’t think of throwing their weight around like that, trying to slander others before God.” 2 Peter 2:10-11 MSG

Moses faced the same issue in His time. And this the sin that cause God to open the earth and it destroy all that identify with this rebellious spirit. God Almighty hates when we rebel against authority. Please read 16:1-50.

Let’s pray together:

Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your word. Help me by Your Spirit to submit to the authority You placed over me and to quit listening to people that criticizes the authority God Almighty placed in His Church in Jesus Christ mighty Name. Amen. Nederlandse vertaling
