And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.” Matthew 9:35-36 KJV

The Bible says Jesus Christ our Lord was moved with compassion. The only reason why many don’t do personal evangelism anymore is that they are not moved with compassion for this perishing world.

The question is what is compassion? It is defined as deep awareness of another suffering accompanied by a wish or feeling to relieve it.

No one can truly make an impact in life with what they do without compassion for it. It’s same with carrying our task of great commission given to us by the Lord. Without compassion we will not achieve no results.

The other day, the disciples of Jesus remembered a prophecy in the Bible that says the zeal of thine house is eaten me up.

Then, going over to the people who sold doves, he told them, “Get these things out of here. Stop turning my Father’s house into a marketplace!” Then his disciples remembered this prophecy from the Scriptures: “Passion for God’s house will consume me.” John 2:16-17 NLT

His government and its peace will never end. He will rule with fairness and justice from the throne of His ancestor David for all eternity. The passionate commitment of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies will make this happen!” Isaiah 9:7 NLT

The reason why Jesus Christ our Lord accomplished His task on earth, or was successful in His ministry on earth, is that He was and still is moved by the spirit of compassion. We all have that in us as children of the most high God. The reason why we don’t see it in our walk with God is that most of the time we magnify it only when things are personal to us. But God Almighty wants us to exercise this great gift as we evangelize.

Many are in need of compassion. That’s is to say people that are committed to their love for helping others. In other words you love to do what you do and you’re committed in doing it. You don’t do it because you’re compelled to, but your motive behind it is Love in Jesus Christ mighty name.

Let the spirit of compassion rule your day as you reach out in Jesus Christ mighty name.

Let’s pray together:

Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your Word. I repent in Jesus Christ mighty name if I always felt compelled to preach. I pray today that the spirit of compassion rules over me as I carry my task of great commission in Jesus Christ mighty name. Amen.
