For let him who wants to enjoy life and see good days [good–whether apparent or not] keep his tongue free from evil and his lips from guile (treachery, deceit).” 1 Peter 3:10 AMP
Many have died prematurely and also inflicted curses over themselves because of the words that have proceeded out of their mouth against their own life and against others. Many are made captive by their own words.
One of the methods by which many are entrapped by satan, is through their own words. When they open their mouth instead of setting fire on the enemies camp, they set fire on themselves. So to speak they destroy themselves with what they say especially in trying times. (Please read Mark 14:66-71).
Then he commenced invoking a curse on himself [should he not be telling the truth] and swearing, I do not know the Man about Whom you are talking!” Mark 14:71 AMP
Now, Peter the Man of God was going through some trying time. Instead of him to stand on God’s word, he instead gave heed to his fears and spoke contrary to the word of God.
We have to be careful in this area as children of the most High God.
You are snared with the words of your lips, you are caught by the speech of your mouth.” Proverbs 6:2 AMP
God Almighty wants us to control our tongue how we use it.
If you claim to be religious but don’t control your tongue, you are fooling yourself, and your religion is worthless.” James 1:26 AMP
