For when one says, I belong to Paul, and another, I belong to Apollos, are you not [proving yourselves] ordinary (unchanged) men? What then is Apollos? What is Paul? Ministering servants [not heads of parties] through whom you believed, even as the Lord appointed to each his task:” 1 Corinthians 3:4-5 AMP

One of the reason why we don’t make a great impact in our task or assignment in God’s vineyard is because of competition. In God’s kingdom we don’t compete but we support each other in what we do. Though we all are called at some point to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. Every one is best at the field in which he is called and together we make a great team with God Almighty who causes our works to produce results.

The church of Corinthians was full of carnality. So the spirit of of competition was trying to split the people. They were magnifying a man instead of magnifying God Almighty Who employed all and caused us all to be fruitful in His vineyard. So apostle Paul saw how the people were comparing between him and Barnabas about doctrines.

I planted, Apollos watered, but God [all the while] was making it grow and [He] gave the increase. So neither he who plants is anything nor he who waters, but [only] God Who makes it grow and become greater. He who plants and he who waters are equal (one in aim, of the same importance and esteem), yet each shall receive his own reward (wages), according to his own labor.” 1 Corinthians 3:6-8 AMP

So let us stop competing with one another, but let us support each other and appreciate one another as we do God’s work in Jesus Christ mighty name.

For we are fellow workmen (joint promoters, laborers together) with and for God; … 1 Corinthians 3:9 AMP

Let’s pray together:

Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your Word. I bind the spirit of competition and release unity. Help me to always appreciate all who work in Your vineyard without comparing them in Jesus Christ mighty name. Amen.
