But if we [really] are living and walking in the Light, as He [Himself] is in the Light, we have [true, unbroken] fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses (removes) us from all sin and guilt [keeps us cleansed from sin in all its forms and manifestations].”1 John 1:7 AMP

Walking in the Light means the practice of the Love God. That is the only way we expel darkness. The opposite of walking in God’s love is living in sin. Now sin is there to affect our intimacy with God, not our relationship. For example: We all are related to God by birth, and this relationship was initiated by God Himself. Please read John 1:12-13.

But in the process of growing in God we can commit sin. I am not saying we have to sin but it can happen. Also know this: that no true child of God love to fellowship with sin. That’s why we must learn to confess our sin always. And also makes sure we are not having presumptuous sins, which leads us to destruction.

Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me! Then shall I be blameless, and I shall be innocent and clear of great transgression.” Psalms 19:13 AMP

The devil will only take advantage of our intimacy with Jesus Christ if we refuse or try to cover our sin. Also we should never be ashame to confess them because Jesus Christ is our Avocate and also our propitiation for our sin. In other words He pleads our case when we sin and He is our sin offering that speaks of forgiveness and restoration.

MY LITTLE children, I write you these things so that you may not violate God’s law and sin. But if anyone should sin, we have an Advocate (One Who will intercede for us) with the Father–[it is] Jesus Christ [the all] righteous [upright, just, Who conforms to the Father’s will in every purpose, thought, and action]. And He [that same Jesus Himself] is the propitiation (the atoning sacrifice) for our sins, and not for ours alone but also for [the sins of] the whole world.” 1 John 2:1-2 AMP

Don’t let your errors or sin stop you from being intimate with God Almighty. Don’t hide them, confess them and move on.
