You are snared with the words of your lips, you are caught by the speech of your mouth.” Proverbs 6:2 AMP
Many people have gotten themselves in wrong engagement with the enemy because of the many promises that they made without fulfilling them. So they are held captive because of their words. Some are even to prideful to acknowledge their wrong and take back their words through asking for forgiveness. And no word is void of power. God Almighty does not want us to speak out of emotions, but He wants to be aware of our words and make sure we do what we say or promised to do.
Do not allow your mouth to cause your body to sin, and do not say before the messenger [the priest] that it was an error or mistake. Why should God be [made] angry at your voice and destroy the work of your hands? [Mal. 2:7.]” Ecclesiastes 5:6 AMP
So make sure you honour your words or ask for forgiveness. For your own words will hunt you.
