Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.” Ephesians 2:2-3 KJV
Before we got born again we used to behave and talk based on the cravings of our flesh. So we were under the influence of the domain of darkness. But after being born again children of God Almighty, we’re no more under the doom of darkness.
[The Father] has delivered and drawn us to Himself out of the control and the dominion of darkness and has transferred us into the kingdom of the Son of His love,” Colossians 1:13 AMP
That’s why we put off the old man and put on the new man in Christ.
Strip yourselves of your former nature [put off and discard your old unrenewed self] which characterized your previous manner of life and becomes corrupt through lusts and desires that spring from delusion; And be constantly renewed in the spirit of your mind [having a fresh mental and spiritual attitude], And put on the new nature (the regenerate self) created in God’s image, [Godlike] in true righteousness and holiness” Ephesians 4:22-24 AMP
This is a daily process for us to bring our tongue under the influence of the Holy Spirit.

Heavenly Father I thank You for Your word. Help me to bring my tongue under the discipline of the Holy Spirit as I surrender myself to You in Jesus Christ mighty name. Amen.
