And having seen that they were troubled and tormented in [their] rowing, for the wind was against them, about the fourth watch of the night [between 3:00-6:00 a.m.] He came to them, walking [directly] on the sea. And He acted as if He meant to pass by them, But when they saw Him walking on the sea they thought it was a ghost, and raised a [deep, throaty] shriek of terror. For they all saw Him and were agitated (troubled and filled with fear and dread). But immediately He talked with them and said, Take heart! I AM! Stop being alarmed and afraid. [Exod. 3:14.] And He went up into the boat with them, and the wind ceased (sank to rest as if exhausted by its own beating). And they were astonished exceedingly [beyond measure],” Mark 6:48-15 HSV

My emphasis in today’s manna is on the word “I AM” in verse 50 of our main text.

Most of the time when we’re going through some challenges, the devil makes us to think we’re alone. And also makes us to think this is the end and there is no more hope. Here we see how the apostles of Jesus Christ our Lord were so afraid because of a strong wind and also when they saw Him walking on water they thought it’s a ghost.

Now, when our Lord shows up in the scene, He said: “Take heart! I AM!” That word “I AM”! means in Hebrew Eheyeh asher Eheyeh, which means in English: I am that (who or what) I am. The self-existing one, the eternal one. The one who always has been and will always be. In summary, is to say I Am here, the ever present and living one. I Am the God who keepeth covenants and fulfils promises.

So Jesus was telling His disciples fear not or be moved for I am always with you, to be who or whatever you want me to be for you and to put you over in every situation which is contrary to God’s Plan and purpose for your lives.

When God sent Moses to Egypt that was the name He introduced Himself to the people.

And God said to Moses, I AM WHO I AM and WHAT I AM, and I WILL BE WHAT I WILL BE; and He said, You shall say this to the Israelites: I AM has sent me to you!” Exodus 3:14 HSV

This name took the children of Israelites out from the hand of pharaoh and from Egypt and God Almighty gave them rest.

Today the Lord God Almighty is saying the same to us. He says don’t be moved or be shaken. For I Am with you. I will fulfil in your life what I promised to do. Don’t be moved. Stay focus on me. I am God (Yahweh ). I am the same yesterday, today and forever. For I have not changed.

Let’s pray together:

Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your Word. I declare in the mighty name of Jesus Christ our Lord that I AM is with me and in me in all that is going on in my life in Jesus Christ mighty name. Amen.
