God has called us to pray for the leaders He has assigned to our lives.

It’s very important we do this daily because our destiny is linked to the leader God has assigned to us.

The enemy can only hamper our destiny when he succeeds in taking down or out of the way the shepherd God has assigned to us.

That is why Jesus said: “And Jesus said to them, You will all fall away this night [that is, you will be caused to stumble and will begin to distrust and desert Me], for it stands written, I will strike the Shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered. [Zech. 13:7.]”

Therefore, if the enemy succeeds in targeting the pastors, the flocks will wander about thus forfeiting their God-given destiny.

That is why David said: “THE Lord is my Shepherd [to feed, guide, and shield me], I shall not lack. He makes me lie down in [fresh, tender] green pastures; He leads me beside the still and restful waters. [Rev. 7:17.] He refreshes and restores my life (my self); He leads me in the paths of righteousness [uprightness and right standing with Him–not for my earning it, but] for His name’s sake. Yes, though I walk through the [deep, sunless] valley of the shadow of death, I will fear or dread no evil, for You are with me; Your rod [to protect] and Your staff [to guide], they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my [brimming] cup runs over. Surely or only goodness, mercy, and unfailing love shall follow me all the days of my life, and through the length of my days the house of the Lord [and His presence] shall be my dwelling place.”

Actually, though we have Jesus Christ as our Chief Shepherd, He has given His pastors as bishops that watch over the souls of the flocks. In other words, all that God was to David, every true pastor is supposed to be the same to the flocks God has entrusted them to.

For this reason, we must pray for them daily against any sudden attack and their families.
