-Food for thought day 62-

• Mark 8:17-20

When we continually act contrary to God’s Word, we are working hard to have a hardened heart towards God.

Someone with a hardened heart is a hearer of the Gospel who repeatedly resists convicting truth and becomes insensitive, dull and loses power of understanding. Such one has seared their conscience.

“BUT THE [Holy] Spirit distinctly and expressly declares that in latter times some will turn away from the faith, giving attention to deluding and seducing spirits and doctrines that demons teach, Through the hypocrisy and pretensions of liars whose consciences are seared (cauterized),”
‭‭
Jesus was speaking to people who willfully saw miracles and refused to admit them. Hearing the Word and willfully reject and choose to forget it. Any people in this category have given themselves over to witchcraft. That means they began with God by the Holy Spirit, but were trying to attain perfection by their own ability or human way of doing things.

Also, one of the things that surprised Jesus was that; His own disciples who were supposed to know better and believe in Him, because of all the miracles they experienced in His ministry often doubted whenever they were in a situation. Instead of relying on God, they relied on their own ability or sense knowledge.

Therefore, Jesus said: “And being aware [of it], Jesus said to them, Why are you reasoning and saying it is because you have no bread? Do you not yet discern or understand? Are your hearts in [a settled state of] hardness? [Isa. 6:9, 10; Jer. 5:21.] Having eyes, do you not see [with them], and having ears, do you not hear and perceive and understand the sense of what is said? And do you not remember? When I broke the five loaves for the 5,000, how many [small hand] baskets full of broken pieces did you take up? They said to Him, Twelve. And [when I broke] the seven loaves for the 4,000, how many [large provision] baskets full of broken pieces did you take up? And they said to Him, Seven. And He kept repeating, Do you not yet understand?”

God gave us a heart of flesh and not a hardened heart; a believing and obedient heart. It’s our responsibility to make sure we don’t willfully reject, forget and fail to put into practice what we read in God’s Word or see Jesus Christ do in the Bible. The mentioned things above makes the heart to be hardened towards the things of God.

That is why the Word of God says: “So get rid of all uncleanness and the rampant outgrowth of wickedness, and in a humble (gentle, modest) spirit receive and welcome the Word which implanted and rooted [in your hearts] contains the power to save your souls. But be doers of the Word [obey the message], and not merely listeners to it, betraying yourselves [into deception by reasoning contrary to the Truth]. For if anyone only listens to the Word without obeying it and being a doer of it, he is like a man who looks carefully at his [own] natural face in a mirror; For he thoughtfully observes himself, and then goes off and promptly forgets what he was like. But he who looks carefully into the faultless law, the [law] of liberty, and is faithful to it and perseveres in looking into it, being not a heedless listener who forgets but an active doer [who obeys], he shall be blessed in his doing (his life of obedience).”
‭‭
Let’s us choose to be active in God’s Word both spiritually and naturally and refuse to be passive.

Remember we have a heart of flesh not a hardened or stony heart.

Don’t try to reason out spiritual things. Embrace it and do it. That is the secret of walking in God’s glory!!!!!

Many Blessings in Jesus’ Name!
