-Food for thought day 56-

• Mark 2:8-12

It’s easy to help someone without forgiving them for what they have done to you. We all have been victims of this dilemma.

The question is: How do you know you have forgiven someone?

Answer: “It is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride); it is not rude (unmannerly) and does not act unbecomingly. Love (God’s love in us) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it [it pays no attention to a suffered wrong].”
‭‭
The fact that you’re still keeping accounts of wrong done to you, even though you are helping the person; is a sure sign you’re carrying an unforgiving spirit.

Jesus had to forgive before healing (a person), because forgiveness releases the person indebted to you and it also releases you from what unforgiveness does to your entire being.

God is not so moved about us helping people or bringing our gifts to His altar with an unforgiving spirit.

“But I say to you that everyone who continues to be angry with his brother or harbors malice (enmity of heart) against him shall be liable to and unable to escape the punishment imposed by the court; and whoever speaks contemptuously and insultingly to his brother shall be liable to and unable to escape the punishment imposed by the Sanhedrin, and whoever says, You cursed fool! [You empty-headed idiot!] shall be liable to and unable to escape the hell (Gehenna) of fire. So if when you are offering your gift at the altar you there remember that your brother has any [grievance] against you, Leave your gift at the altar and go. First make peace with your brother, and then come back and present your gift. Come to terms quickly with your accuser while you are on the way traveling with him, lest your accuser hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the guard, and you be put in prison.”

God wants to heal you; let go of any grudge, commit it to the Lord and be reconciled to whosoever did you wrong. This will be for your own good. We should not let unforgiveness hold us in prison and also shorten our life span.

God is doing a new thing! Let go of the past and press into it, in Jesus’ Name!

Many blessings in Jesus’ Name.
