-Food for thought day 45-

• Exodus 5:8-19

The children of Israel were afflicted with hard labor, because pharaoh thought they were idling around; that is why they demand to go worship or offer sacrifice to their God. He saw no reason why they should leave what they were doing, to go worship God. In other words pharaoh was saying you’re idle that’s why you request me to let you go.

If we take a closer look at his statement, we can pick a great truth why some people are busybodies. Though in the case of the Israelites it wasn’t so.

A busybody is someone who goes from one place to another meddling or prying into people’s business because of idleness. Busybodies are working warehouses of confusion and nothing constructive comes out of their mouth. As a matter of fact they’re like poisonous vipers who go about poisoning the lives of people with words.

The Word of God says: “But let none of you suffer as a murderer, a thief, an evildoer, or as a busybody in other people’s matters.”

“Moreover, as they go about from house to house, they learn to be idlers, and not only idlers, but gossips and busybodies, saying what they should not say and talking of things they should not mention.”
‭‭
“Indeed, we hear that some among you are disorderly [that they are passing their lives in idleness, neglectful of duty], being busy with other people’s affairs instead of their own and doing no work.”
‭‭‭‭
These are people who have purposely refused to do anything with their time. They don’t work, but spend time gossiping; they are talebearers. They know everything about others except themselves. Sometimes we hear people say “…I was just around the neighborhood, so I chose to pass by to say “hello”.” Before you know it, the conversation results from one gossip to another and at the end you’re more exhausted.

The reason for it, is this: the talebearer or busybody has just polluted your spirit man and mind with ungodly seeds.

We should learn never to tolerate such people in our lives. We are here for a purpose; anyone without purpose and who doesn’t want to use their hands to work, is not supposed to be close to you.

We must take a close look at our environment (people around us) and begin to avoid any person that is unproductive with their time. It doesn’t matter if that person is closely related to us or not.

Refuse to be a busybody and don’t tolerate any busybody around you. Shut the door!

Productive people will inspire you to prosper while unproductive people will help to destroy all that you’ve been trying to build.

Be careful with busybodies!

Many blessings in Jesus’ Name.
