– Food for thought day 44 –

• Matthew 26:6-8

What for someone is a waste, can be of value to another. It depends on the view of the individual.

I can spend €10,000 for car because I know the worth of it but for someone else it is a waste, because they don’t value the car. We spend on the things we treasure. In order for you to know the state of your heart, you must take a closer look at where you spend or invest most of your money. The Word of God says: “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”
‭‭
The woman with the alabasterbox poured an expensive ointment on Jesus’ feet and the disciples said that it was a waste because they didn’t see no reason why she should do it. However, what she did was an expression of her heart towards God.

In the same way believers in Christ give. They give according to their revelation of who God is to them. Their giving is an expression of their heart towards God. The quality of offerings we bring at God’s altar is an expression of the state of our heart towards Him.

We should never argue with anyone that doesn’t understand why we do, what we are doing. It doesn’t matter whether it is a believer in Christ. And we should all understand that, revelation about God is progressive. The more God reveals Himself to us, the more we realize all He has is ours and all we have is His and there will be no room to withhold anything from Him. That is why we are not called to argue with people that don’t understand us.

We should learn not to allow people statements to define us when it comes to giving to support God’s work.

Sometimes worldly people say Christians are giving all their money to church, “what a waste”. The reason why they talk that way is because they have no value for our God. We should be careful how we open our spirit and soul to such conversations. Do you know, we never question this same people why they spend their money the way they do. They invest their money on night clubs, drugs, alcohol, pornography, cigarettes, marijuana, cocain etc. These people invest their money on these things because that is where their heart is.

We should not let the statement “… what a waste” stop us from doing what is right.

We don’t live our lives based on human standards or philosophy, but we function according to God’s way and must learn to allow His mind (His Word) to rule over us. If God is the source of life and giver of everything we have, then there is absolutely no problem spending our resources for the advancement of the gospel.

As a matter of fact we are privileged that God qualifies us to be part of what He is doing through our giving. God is Selfsufficient to take care of His business.

“For every beast of the forest is Mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills or upon the mountains where thousands are. I know and am acquainted with all the birds of the mountains, and the wild animals of the field are Mine and are with Me, in My mind. If I were hungry, I would not tell you, for the world and its fullness are Mine.”

So we should be careful not to let peoples opinion on our investment concerning matters of Christ count in anyway in our lives.

Don’t let anyone take you off course.

Many blessings in Jesus’ Name.
