– Food for thought day 35 –

• Job 19:1-25
• Psalms 46:1-2
• Proverbs 18:24

The friends of Job treated him unfairly, because they thought his challenges were as a result of something evil he did.

Human beings have the tendency of categorizing others based on their circumstances. The hidden character of people around us will manifest in time of challenges, or in a moment of our weaknesses.

The good news is that God will always use these moments to reveal Himself to us, to show us that He is our present Help in trouble and that He is the Friend that sticks closer than a brother.

When looking at Job’s life: everything or everybody he knew quit on him, but His Redeemer did not quit on him, instead He came for his rescue.

The Word of God says: “Thus says the Lord: Cursed [with great evil] is the strong man who trusts in and relies on frail man, making weak [human] flesh his arm, and whose mind and heart turn aside from the Lord. For he shall be like a shrub or a person naked and destitute in the desert; and he shall not see any good come, but shall dwell in the parched places in the wilderness, in an uninhabited salt land. [Most] blessed is the man who believes in, trusts in, and relies on the Lord, and whose hope and confidence the Lord is. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters that spreads out its roots by the river; and it shall not see and fear when heat comes; but its leaf shall be green. It shall not be anxious and full of care in the year of drought, nor shall it cease yielding fruit.”

It was not a stranger that accused Job. It were his close friends that accused him. The devil is a master in using people close to us to betray or accuse us.

For this reason, God does not want us to put our trust in man for He knows the heart of man without His help is deceitful and full of evil.

We should always learn to put our trust and confidence in God, Who works with, in and through people, but not put our trust in them. In other words we should believe in God’s Best working in people, however knowing fully well that man in all his glory will wither and fade away one day.

Put your trust in God!

Many blessings in Jesus’ Name.
