Bible Study Plan 2019

Today we read:
Revelation 18-19

-Food for thought day 343-

• 1 Corinthians 5:1-8
• 2 Corinthians 2:5-11

Love removes heaviness in the lives of people. Most of the time we refuse to give room for those who have fallen to get back up. Instead, we make the situation worse with our attitude, not knowing we are giving room to satan to take advantage of the situation and sow seeds of discouragement, rejection in the life of the person in question and also division in the body of Christ.

This does not mean people should not be disciplined in church when they do something wrong, but God doesn’t want us to focus on the sin (what happened) more than their restoration. In other words, their restoration is far more important than their mess.

Everyone is talking about the terrible thing that has happened there among you, something so evil that even the heathen don’t do it: you have a man in your church who is living in sin with his father’s wife. And are you still so conceited, so “spiritual”? Why aren’t you mourning in sorrow and shame and seeing to it that this man is removed from your membership? Although I am not there with you, I have been thinking a lot about this, and in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I have already decided what to do, just as though I were there. You are to call a meeting of the church and the power of the Lord Jesus will be with you as you meet, and I will be there in spirit- and cast out this man from the fellowship of the church and into Satan’s hands, to punish him, in the hope that his soul will be saved when our Lord Jesus Christ returns. What a terrible thing it is that you are boasting about your purity and yet you let this sort of thing go on. Don’t you realize that if even one person is allowed to go on sinning, soon all will be affected? Remove this evil cancer-this wicked person from among you, so that you can stay pure. Christ, God’s Lamb, has been slain for us. So let us feast upon him and grow strong in the Christian life, leaving entirely behind us the cancerous old life with all its hatred and wickedness. Let us feast instead upon the pure bread of honor and sincerity and truth.
1 Corinthians 5:1-8 TLB

Jesus Christ was the sin offering to all mankind. Now, through the sacrifice of Himself, all that believes in Him and confess their sins experience restoration.

He is the God of restoration.

That’s is why Paul said by the Holy Spirit:
Remember that the man I wrote about, who caused all the trouble, has not caused sorrow to me as much as to all the rest of you-though I certainly have my share in it too. I don’t want to be harder on him than I should. He has been punished enough by your united disapproval. Now it is time to forgive him and comfort him. Otherwise, he may become so bitter and discouraged that he won’t be able to recover. Please show him now that you still do love him very much. I wrote to you as I did so that I could find out how far you would go in obeying me. When you forgive anyone, I do too. And whatever I have forgiven (to the extent that this affected me too) has been by Christ’s authority, and for your good. A further reason for forgiveness is to keep from being outsmarted by Satan, for we know what he is trying to do.
2 Corinthians 2:5-11 TLB

When you forgive someone, it’s for your good first, because you remove weight you have put on yourself and that of the person and secondly, it keeps you and the person from being outsmarted by satan through what had happened.

For this reason, you must strive to break the yoke of guilt and shame in people’s life through forgiveness and loving them irrespective of their mess.

Remember: love strives to remove heaviness in people’s life.

Strive to be a yoke breaker by walking in love and refuse to be outsmarted by satan.

Many blessings in Jesus’ Name.
