• Romans 8:33-34
• 1 John 2:1
• John 21:15-17

To love someone is to defend them. You cannot love without defending the ones you love. That is why the Word of God says:

“MY LITTLE children, I write you these things so that you may not violate God’s law and sin. But if anyone should sin, we have an Advocate (One Who will intercede for us) with the Father–[it is] Jesus Christ [the all] righteous [upright, just, Who conforms to the Father’s will in every purpose, thought, and action].”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭2:1‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

The reason why Jesus Christ lives to pray for us, instead of condemning us for our faults, is because of His Love for us. He defends us daily, that’s why the enemy (adversary) hasn’t gotten his way over us.

We as believers in Christ must learn to follow the footsteps of our Lord Jesus Christ and defend one another irrespective of mistakes or challenges.

It’s for this purpose that Jesus said to Peter: “Feed My lambs”. Jesus was telling him to defend the lambs.

The Bible says: “When they had eaten, Jesus said to Simon Peter, Simon, son of John, do you love Me more than these [others do–with reasoning, intentional, spiritual devotion, as one loves the Father]? He said to Him, Yes, Lord, You know that I love You [that I have deep, instinctive, personal affection for You, as for a close friend]. He said to him, Feed My lambs. Again He said to him the second time, Simon, son of John, do you love Me [with reasoning, intentional, spiritual devotion, as one loves the Father]? He said to Him, Yes, Lord, You know that I love You [that I have a deep, instinctive, personal affection for You, as for a close friend]. He said to him, Shepherd (tend) My sheep. He said to him the third time, Simon, son of John, do you love Me [with a deep, instinctive, personal affection for Me, as for a close friend]? Peter was grieved (was saddened and hurt) that He should ask him the third time, Do you love Me? And he said to Him, Lord, You know everything; You know that I love You [that I have a deep, instinctive, personal affection for You, as for a close friend]. Jesus said to him, Feed My sheep.”
‭‭John‬ ‭21:15-17‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

The English word “feed” comes from the Greek word “bosko”. Bosko means many things, but one of the meanings is to defend someone.

You cannot go ahead professing God’s Love for people without defending them.

Remember: Love is a defender.

Many blessings in Jesus’ Name.
