Anyone in love with someone will be controlled by it. And at some point you will be blinded not to see the things that are wrong in the relationship because of love. A man that is in love can go the extra mile, just to please the spouse and vice versa.

However, if natural human love can compel one to do what they were not ready to do. What about the love of God ?

“For the love of Christ controls and urges and impels us, because we are of the opinion and conviction that [if] One died for all, then all died;”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:14‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

In other words, the Love of Christ should have the first and the last word in everything we do.

The reason why we don’t function in this dimension of love is, because we have lost our first love. So most of the things we do are no more motivated by the love of God, but by the flesh.

For this reason, many are easily offended, unforgiving, bitter and they easily give up. Walking in God’s love is a choice and we must be willing to be controlled by It through the power of God’s Spirit in us.

In the book of Revelation, there is this church that was just doing things for doing sake. Therefore, Jesus reproofed this church, asked them to repent and return back to their first love.

“TO THE angel (messenger) of the assembly (church) in Ephesus write: These are the words of Him Who holds the seven stars [which are the messengers of the seven churches] in His right hand, Who goes about among the seven golden lampstands [which are the seven churches]: I know your industry and activities, laborious toil and trouble, and your patient endurance, and how you cannot tolerate wicked [men] and have tested and critically appraised those who call [themselves] apostles (special messengers of Christ) and yet are not, and have found them to be impostors and liars. I know you are enduring patiently and are bearing up for My name’s sake, and you have not fainted or become exhausted or grown weary. But I have this [one charge to make] against you: that you have left (abandoned) the love that you had at first [you have deserted Me, your first love]. Remember then from what heights you have fallen. Repent (change the inner man to meet God’s will) and do the works you did previously [when first you knew the Lord], or else I will visit you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you change your mind and repent.”

The question is: “ How can I return back to my first love?”

Answer: Go back to the place where you love Jesus Christ for who He is, without all the rules and regulations you have placed on yourself or have allowed people to place on you. These things have quenched the fire of God’s love in you.

Repent!!!!! Return!!!! Let God’s love burn in you!!!!

The Love of Christ should be your daily motivation and you should be controlled by it in all what you do in words and in deeds.
