-Food for thought day 140-

• Romans 13:1-3
• Ephesians 5:21
• Philippians 2:5-9

It’s easy to submit to someone in higher authority than ourselves, because we respect them for the position they have or because they’re older, age wise.

“LET EVERY person be loyally subject to the governing (civil) authorities. For there is no authority except from God [by His permission, His sanction], and those that exist do so by God’s appointment. [Prov. 8:15.] Therefore he who resists and sets himself up against the authorities resists what God has appointed and arranged [in divine order]. And those who resist will bring down judgment upon themselves [receiving the penalty due them]. For civil authorities are not a terror to [people of] good conduct, but to [those of] bad behavior. Would you have no dread of him who is in authority? Then do what is right and you will receive his approval and commendation.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭13:1-3‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

However, the Word of God admonishes us not only to submit to people in authority but to one another.

“Be subject to one another out of reverence for Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One).”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭5:21‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

The Word submit means: “Giving in to one another in love.” God does not want us to submit because we must do so for people to see, but we must do it with our whole heart out of love. It should not be for eye service only, but with a pure heart full of love.

Love is the commandment we are commanded to practice. And any act without love is a sin.

Jesus Christ our Lord submitted to God out of love, not out of manipulation or control (Philippians 2:5-9). We as believers in Christ must follow the footsteps of Christ when it comes to submission. It’s very expedient that we understand that submission should be done out of God’s love at work in us.

Without submission, Jesus would not have given His life for us to live. He came to die and as a result of that, He had to submit to the will of the Father out of love.

Walking in God’s love means submitting to His authority; that is governmental, spiritual and to one another.

By doing so, we give room for the anointing of God to work in and upon us effectively to be a blessing to others.

True submission is done out of the revelation of God’s love.

Many blessings in Jesus’ Name.
