When Rehoboam had established the kingdom and had strengthened himself, he forsook the law of the Lord, and all Israel with him. And he did evil because he did not set his heart to seek (inquire of, yearn for) the Lord with all his desire.” 2 Chronicles 12:1, 14 AMP

This is the story of a king chosen by God to lead Israel. He started by submitting to God’s word. When he became stronger, he substituted God’s word for idolatry .

Whenever we compromise the word of God to satisfy our own egos, it is like replacing gold with bronze or silver. Now gold can’t take the place of silver. Gold in this sense stands for God’s word and also practicing God’s word(Please read 1 kings 14:21-28).

He took away the treasures of the house of the Lord and of the king’s house; he took away all, including all the shields of gold which Solomon had made. King Rehoboam made in their stead bronze shields and committed them to the hands of the captains of the guard who kept the door of the king’s house.” 1 Kings 14:26-27 AMP

So because he did not hid to God’s word he lost the gold that he has and substitute it for bronze and end up losing his own life. Today, refuse to compromise.

Let’s pray together:

Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your Word. Help me not to compromise Your Word for nothing else in my life in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
