And the ones sown among the thorns are others who hear the Word; Then the cares and anxieties of the world and distractions of the age, and the pleasure and delight and false glamour and deceitfulness of riches, and the craving and passionate desire for other things creep in and choke and suffocate the Word, and it becomes fruitless.” Mark 4:18-19 AMP
Most of the time you hear people say: “The Word of God is not working for me.” The reason why God’s Word is unfruitful in the life of most people is due to worldliness or carnality.
What is carnality or worldliness? It is allowing your fleshly appetite, reasoning or your senses to rule over the Word of God. In such a situation you are allowing your flesh to rule over your spirit.
The Word of God is spiritually discern not naturally discern.
But the natural, nonspiritual man does not accept or welcome or admit into his heart the gifts and teachings and revelations of the Spirit of God, for they are folly (meaningless nonsense) to him; and he is incapable of knowing them [of progressively recognizing, understanding, and becoming better acquainted with them] because they are spiritually discerned and estimated and appreciated.”1 Corinthians 2:14 AMP
That’s why for God’s Word to take root in our lives, we must learn to accept the truth, which the Holy Spirit teaches us, and live by it.

Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your Word. I refuse to allow the dictates of my flesh choke and suffocate God’s Word in my life in Jesus Christ mighty name. Amen.
