Why are you cast down, O my inner self? And why should you moan over me and be disquieted within me? Hope in God and wait expectantly for Him, for I shall yet praise Him, Who is the help of my [sad] countenance, and my God.” Psalm 43:5 AMP

Another way to recognise our soul is cast down or the spirit of depression attacking us is dishonest sharing. That is you pretend you are concerned about someone wellbeing by talking trash behind the back of the person, while in reality you’re angry with the person and you want the person to be punish for it. Sometimes people express this as prayer point while in their heart, their target is to destroy the reputation of the person they  are angry with. This is also a form of gossip. I am not saying we should not pray for one another. God looks at the motive of our heart in prayer.  Many of such prayers, with wrong motive behind it about people, ends up contaminating people that hears it. And if you are not spiritual it will build a negative mindset in you about the person prayed for.

Moreover our coming together should not breath gossip that attracts the spirit of depression or heaviness . God’s wants that our fellowship with one another should be focus on God’s word and also cause people to turn their hearts towards God for repentance.

For even though I did grieve you with my letter, I do not regret [it now], though I did regret it; for I see that that letter did pain you, though only for a little while; Yet I am glad now, not because you were pained, but because you were pained into repentance [and so turned back to God]; for you felt a grief such as God meant you to feel, so that in nothing you might suffer loss through us or harm for what we did. For godly grief and the pain God is permitted to direct, produce a repentance that leads and contributes to salvation and deliverance from evil, and it never brings regret; but worldly grief (the hopeless sorrow that is characteristic of the pagan world) is deadly [breeding and ending in death].” 2 Corinthians 7:8-10 AMP

It’s about time we check our motive before we share anything. So that we won’t pollute the people that listen to us with the spirit of heaviness or depression.  For godly edifying leads to repentance.

Let’s pray together:

Heavenly Father I thank You for Your word. Deliver me from false tongue that brings about heaviness and spirit of depression to others. Help me to always godly edify my brothers and sisters unto repentance in Jesus Christ mighty name. Amen
