“Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭12:9-10 KJV

God’s nature righteousness was given to us all as our new nature when we got born again . This new nature makes us holy. Holiness speaks of God’s character being formed in us as we devote ourselves daily and wholly to Him. This is what outwardly differentiate us from unbelievers. It is rather unfortunate that sometimes believers only become devoted to the things of God which conforms them to the image of Christ in trials. This ought not to be so. We must learn to daily live our lives to the conformity to the word of God as obedient Children.

We are here on earth not to be conformed to the image of our old nature or the image of our spiritual leaders but to the image of Christ. I am not talking about saying we are Christlike without any outward manifestation of the Christlike character. The Bibel says “Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭7:16-18‬ ‭KJV‬‬

So, our outward character speaks of what we are made up of inside.

Hence, when we are chastised of the Lord is for our own profit not for selfish benefit like the chastisement of our earthly parents .

“For those whom He foreknew [of whom He was aware and loved beforehand], He also destined from the beginning [foreordaining them] to be molded into the image of His Son [and share inwardly His likeness], that He might become the firstborn among many brethren.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:29‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

We are here to be conformed to the character of Jesus Christ which cannot be attained by our human efforts but only through the inward working of the Holy Spirit as we devote ourselves daily to God.

That being the case we we must train our heart and mind to rejoice in tribulations and persecution because the Godly fruits are being produced in our lives so that we become partakers of God’s holiness.

“Moreover [let us also be full of joy now!] let us exult and triumph in our troubles and rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that pressure and affliction and hardship produce patient and unswerving endurance. And endurance (fortitude) develops maturity of character (approved faith and tried integrity). And character [of this sort] produces [the habit of] joyful and confident hope of eternal salvation.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭5:3-4‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

Let’s pray together; Heavenly Father thank You for making me a partaker of your holiness in trials and also when I am chastised of you in Jesus name. Amen
