Be well balanced (temperate, sober of mind), be vigilant and cautious at all times; for that enemy of yours, the devil, roams around like a lion roaring [in fierce hunger], seeking someone to seize upon and devour. Withstand him; be firm in faith [against his onset–rooted, established, strong, immovable, and determined], knowing that the same (identical) sufferings are appointed to your brotherhood (the whole body of Christians) throughout the world. And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace [Who imparts all blessing and favor], Who has called you to His [own] eternal glory in Christ Jesus, will Himself complete and make you what you ought to be, establish and ground you securely, and strengthen, and settle you.” 1 Peter‬ ‭5:8-10‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

The Bible says we should resist the devil steadfast in the Faith. This is my point for today. We are not called to fight the enemy with our ability. It’s the faith of Christ that gives us the victory not our faith.

For whatever is born of God is victorious over the world; and this is the victory that conquers the world, even our faith.” ‭1 John‬ ‭5:4‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

Our faith in this text is Jesus and the victory in this text is Jesus and Jesus is the Word of God

IN THE beginning [before all time] was the Word (Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself. [Isa. 9:6.]

And the Word (Christ) became flesh (human, incarnate) and tabernacled (fixed His tent of flesh, lived awhile) among us; and we [actually] saw His glory (His honor, His majesty), such glory as an only begotten son receives from his father, full of grace (favor, loving-kindness) and truth. [Isa. 40:5.]” John‬ ‭1:1, 14‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

When we stand on the Word we are standing on the victory we have in Christ. This has nothing to do with feelings but it has all to do with what Jesus Christ has already accomplished on our behalf. This is why Peter said stand fast in the faith. It’s God’s faith in us that gives us the victory over all the wiles of Satan.

Today stand fast in the faith of Jesus Christ and steadfastly resist the devil in Jesus name.

Let’s pray together:

Heavenly Father; I thank You for Your Word. Thank You for helping me to keep standing and resisting the devil steadfast in the faith of Jesus Christ and also thank You for giving the victory through Christ Jesus our Lord and soon coming king in Jesus name. Amen.
