ALL THE commandments which I command you this day you shall be watchful to do, that you may live and multiply and go in and possess the land which the Lord swore to give to your fathers. And you shall [earnestly] remember all the way which the Lord your God led you these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you and to prove you, to know what was in your [mind and] heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not.” Deuteronomy 8:1-2 AMP

The devil uses trials to cause us to doubt God’s integrity or questions His integrity but God uses trials to prove our love for Him. To know what is in our hearts and minds. To know our motive for serving  or following Him. To see whether we will keep being loyal to Him even in suffering. It’s easy to serve God when all is well with us. But in trying times our motives are exposed. Sometimes you can  only know whether you Love God Almighty if you’re joyful or happy for partaking into the suffering of Jesus Christ.

Moreover, for example from our above text; God Almighty had a shorter way to bring the children of Israel into the promise land but He uses the longer road and let them through the wilderness which can also be a figure of trying times or days of persecutions to try their hearts and minds whether they love Him for who He is.

We also see a liked situation happening in the book of ACTS where the apostles where beaten and threatened for preaching in Jesus name. Please read ACTS chapter 3-5.

So they went out from the presence of the council (Sanhedrin), rejoicing that they were being counted worthy [dignified by the indignity] to suffer shame and be exposed to disgrace for [the sake of] His name. Yet [in spite of the threats] they never ceased for a single day, both in the temple area and at home, to teach and to proclaim the good news (Gospel) of Jesus [as] the Christ (the Messiah).” Acts 5:41-42 AMP

One of the ways we display or manifest our love for Jesus Christ is when we are joyful and are still willing to fulfill God’s assignment for our lives even in the midst of trials or persecutions just as the apostles in the book of Acts.

Let’s God’s love keep burning in us.

Let’s pray together:

Heavenly Father I thank You for Your word. Thank You for using trials to expose the motive for my love for You in Jesus Christ mighty name. Amen
